Communications Professional - Entry Level

Bionomics Environmental, Inc. is seeking an entry-level communications professional to assist with a senior Public Involvement Specialist on outreach efforts in support of road design projects. Some travel will be required.

This position will serve as the Public Involvement Specialist for a series of road design improvement projects. The Public Involvement Specialist will be responsible for assisting in managing outreach strategy development and implementation throughout the life of the Project. The candidate should have the ability to think strategically, keep informed about project activities through study and participation in project meetings; manage and work well in a team environment; have project management and organizational skills, a proven ability to communicate professionally and interact effectively at all audience levels; have a flexible schedule and be willing to work evenings, as needed.

Duties Include:

Develop and implement a stake holder outreach and management plan to support project developments through siting, permitting, construction and close out.

Work in conjunction with the Public Involvement Specialist to establish functional goals, strategies and objectives and to ensure that the Public Involvement team executes the community outreach plans and processes accordingly.

Help establish and maintain relationships with project stakeholders: public officials, property owners and businesses affected by large-scale projects. Proactively seek opportunities to build project awareness to keep these parties informed of project activities.

Help develop and manage communication and outreach plans that support the development and distribution of effective public information materials, such as brochures, handouts, newsletters, mailers, web site content, and other materials to project audiences.

Help plan, coordinate, perform and manage the implementation of public involvement activities and outreach for the project, such as public meetings, information sessions, municipal leader briefings, and other special events.

Manage, track, and respond to verbal and written project inquiries in a timely manner.

Manage the documentation of questions, concerns, and requests from public officials, property owners and businesses using the Company’s internal web-based database.

Monitor and report to internal and client project management on critical communications issues and activities.

Provide guidance, training, and assistance to project management and other project team members in communicating project information to the public.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or related field and experience dealing with the public. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Advanced MS Office Suite skills are required. The candidate must be able to help manage in a dynamic team environment, work under pressure and to meet deadlines and work effectively and professionally with various audiences (i.e., public officials, property owners, businesses, client, construction contractors, etc.).
